Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT) Course and Scholarships Announcement:

Wilderness Leadership Training Course Dates:

• May 26-30, mandatory pre-trip meeting May 22nd
• June 23-27, mandatory pre-trip meeting June 19th

Summary of WLT Course Curriculum
This five day backpacking course is the heart of BAWT and takes place in Yosemite National Park. Participants learn about: proper clothing, basic wilderness first aid, nutrition, Leave No Trace ethics equipment use, map & compass reading, risk management in a wilderness setting leadership styles, experiential education models, group dynamics and more. Role plays are utilized to allow for a realistic back-country leadership experience. Participants will learn by doing! Food and transportation are provided. (No experience necessary) 

Completion of the course allows you access to our extensive FREE outdoor equipment loan system.

A limited number of partial scholarships are now available for BAWT's upcoming Wilderness Leadership Training.
