Great Basin Outdoor School, Lake Tahoe; Sue Jacox; Expiration 3/9/06 (program in Nevada, on the east shore of beautiful Lake Tahoe, not too far from Placer County) Great Basin Outdoor School offers experienced naturalists in a lakefront setting where teachers bring 5th & 6th grade classes to study for four-day spring and fall programs and two-day winter ecology and snowshoeing. Students discover and explore the natural environment through hands-on activities in small groups. They build confidence and teamwork skills and develop more respect and appreciation for themselves, for each other, and for the environment. Nevada's rich natural and human history comes alive, and the curriculum based program also encompasses math, writing, physical, and creative activities. Camp Galilee is lakefront property with its own beach, and we also take day trips nearby, one to Zephyr Cove to go out on the lake on a research boat.
