Sierra Nevada Recreation Corporation

Sierra Nevada Recreation Corporation, Vallecito, contact: Carolee White, Expiration 12/13/06. Sierra Nevada Recreation Corporation has been providing underground adventures in California since 1978. We operate four caverns (Boyden Cavern, Moaning Cavern, Black Chasm and California Cavern) and a gold mine (Sutter Gold Mine) providing education and fun on our family tours and thrills and challenges on our extended expeditions.

SCHOOLS can utilize our comprehensive school program as an adjunct to a field trip, or as a unit in and of itself. We designed it to give students a memorable and lively education on the unique geology of caves and caverns, on the uses that caves have been put to over time by man, and on the cave life that can be found within. School lesson plans are located on this website and information on the program can be found by clicking HERE to go to our Education pages. What could be more appropriate when learning about California's Gold Rush than taking an underground tour into a real gold mine? At Sutter Gold Mine, your students will actually traverse deep inside the Mother Lode - the gold bearing quartz vein structure that runs beneath the historic Gold Country, and inspired the dreams of thousands. The school program at all of our locations includes optional above ground activities related to the study area. You can customize your field trip to suit your schedule, budget and interests. We value our school groups and do all we can to make your trip the best ever!

CORE Wildlink Trip to Sequoia

CORE - Creative Outdoor Recreational Edventures, Three Rivers; Petit Pinson and Stephanie Strickland; Expiration 1/4/07. CORE is a non-profit educational adventure organization that integrates life skills, physical challenges, environmental awareness, and classroom curriculum into Sequoia/Kings Canyon wilderness based experiential Edventures for youth. Through these wilderness based experiential Edventures, CORE inspires students to be life-long learners and pro-active stewards of the environment.

We are currently working for the Sequoia Natural History Association as expedition providers for the Wildlink program. Though we operate as our own non-profit entity, we found it would facilitate getting more students into the backcountry by working as employees of SNHA. The Wildlink program is based in Yosemite, and with our help, has been able to expand from two Sequoia N.P. expeditions a year to (hopefully) six this year - we're still working on the dates for the schools. The schools come from a variety of counties in the Central Valley. (read about the expeditions here: Twin Lakes and Sequoia)
