Outdoor Education Instructor

Program Description: Our mission is to foster life-changing experiences in the out-of-doors. As an independent branch of the YMCA, our Outdoor Education Program, geared primarily to 5th and 6th graders, serves San Diego and Orange County youth (mostly inner-city).

Specific Location: Julian, CA (outside of San Diego)

Job Description: Teacher by day and mentor by night, leading youth through new experiences in nature science classes and leadership training, developing lesson plans and curriculum. Our energetic team of instructors focus on character and cultural awareness while introducing children to our natural world and the fun of camp life.

Qualifications: Baccalaureate Degree in education, recreation or related field. Equivalent experience also accepted. Experience working with children in a positive, supportive manner. Minimum six months experience in outdoor education or related field. Must be able to demonstrate mature judgment and positive public relations skills. Physical ability to respond to critical incidents throughout camp and on trails.

Salary: $64-68/day
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Pre-paid legal services. 12% employer paid retirement after 12 months.
