Program Description: The Student Conservation Association is the nations largest non-profit youth conservation organization. SCA's Desert Restoration Corps has been working to protect habitat in the Califonia desert for nearly ten years. This is a residential Corps program, which requires commitment, motivation and ability to take initiative in leading a group of college aged volunteers.
Job Description: Work in partnership with the California Desert Districts Ridgecrest and Palm Springs field office in the Mojave Desert to restore habitat damaged by off highway vehicle use in and around Wilderness areas. The team will utilize a variety of techniques in an effort to repair damaged areas, camouflage existing illegal routes and to limit access to sensitive areas. The team may also interface with the public to provide educational information and to enhance user experience. The team will consist of 6 members and 1 Project Leader. Project is 8 months beginning Oct 2, 2008. Project leader will be seasonal (August thru June)with potential for year round employment.

Comments/Explanation: Crews spend 9 or 10 days in the field with 4 days off between. Housing is optional for staff for at a percentage of cost. Food is provided while in the field
