Naturalist-Intern

Program Description: San Joaquin Outdoor School is a five day residential program for fifth and sixth grade students from the very diverse San Joaquin County. In 2007 we are celebrating our 50th Anniversary in partnership with the San Francisco YMCA at Camp Jones Gulch. This makes San Joaquin Outdoor Education one of the oldest outdoor education programs in California. Our school sites at Redwood Glen and Camp Jones Gulch are in the redwood forest of the Santa Cruz Mountains, near the ocean and proximate to Santa Cruz and San Francisco.

Job Description: Naturalists instruct groups of 15-18 fifth and sixth graders about ecology, marine biology, and conservation in spectacular outdoor settings including redwood forest, oak woodland, tidepools and marsh. Naturalists also lead evening programs including campfires(singing and storytelling),night hikes, tidepool preparatory classes and a music social. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree, strong interest/experience in working with children, first Aid/CPR certification (CPR may be provided during staff training)

Salary: $250/ week
Benefits: $20 medical reinbursement per week
Housing: provided full time
Meals: provided during program only
