Program Description: Emandal Environmental Education is a small (only four naturalists and a director), short (only six to eight weeks) and wonderfully diverse and rewarding program. Emandal Environmental Education students are first through seventh graders from all across California, but more often than not our students come from Bay Area schools adhering to Montessori or Waldorf inspired philosophies. Our program lengths vary from one to five days with most schools choosing a five day program. Our program goals are a mixture of those of outdoor and environmental education and farm education.
Emandal Environmental Education is a part of Emandal Farm. Emandal is located on a thousand acres, the majority of which is forested, alongside the beautiful Eel River, one of America's National Wild and Scenic Rivers. We are also adjacent to the Mendocino National Forest with six thousand foot Mount San Hedrin within a day's hike. We are thirty minutes from Willits, California, a town of about six thousand people, though at times it feels farther. We are approximately three hours north of San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, etc.
