Menus and File structure - what you'll find where
See the green words at the top of the page? That's a navigation bar - very simple, and on most every page. I would like to eventually make it a little fancier, so you can see what is under each section, but since it ~is~ on almost every page and the site currently has over 1500 pages, I am a little hesitant to mess with it!
Here is what you'll find when you click on the navigation bar at the top of the page:
is the Homepage - there are pull down menus there that will help you navigate the rest of the website. That is your start page to find what you need in the AEOE website - bookmark it!
goes to a little news/updates page. I generally have most of this on the homepage, but it won't always fit! The latest news is here, too.
goes to the AEOE Calendar of Events- be sure to check the calendar often - new events (not just AEOE events) are added daily!
goes to the Online Articles and Issues section - interesting articles, updates on EE legislation, and lots of other information that doesn't fit anywhere else!
goes to the AEOE Newsletter index page, with links to past issues of both northern and southern section newsletters and many individual articles now online.
goes to the Conferences index - both state and regional conference information is here, as well as information about past conferences, conference history, and other (non-AEOE) conferences. Outings and Adventures are also listed here.
will tell you everything you want to know about AEOE - history, articles of incorporation and bylaws, legal/budget stuff, awards, and lots more. Check it out - I bet there is a lot about AEOE you never knew!
takes you to our contacts page - contact information for everyone on the board and councils, in case you need to reach us, and links to photos and bios of board members, too!
will tell you all about different categories of membership and how to join, and will link you to membership forms and change of address forms for keeping your membership information up to date. We also keep a list of institutional members with their expiration dates online for easy reference, and you can find member organizations on the California EE Providers map as well.
We hope you are inspired! I just put things that ~I~ find inspiring on here, which I think our members will find inspiring, too. If you have something you think would fit that you'd like to share, by all means send it in and I will post it!
If you want to find a job, or you need to post a job announcement, here is where to start. Links from here to lots of job openings, the online job posting form, instructions, archived job announcements, and more.
So many resources, so little time! Opportunities for Educators has funding, training, and deals for educators that are coming up - check back here often as it is always changing. General and Teaching Resources have all kinds of links to research everything from a master's thesis to you next week's lesson plans, as well as much information about our field. Other resources include information on Diversity / Multicultural Environmental Education, Sustainable Living (The "Green Life" pages), Games, Children's Literature, Fire, and AEOE Affiliates.

Ways to Search
We currently use two different search engines on the AEOE website: Atomz and FreeFind. FreeFind will allow you to search sub-sections of the website, which will help reduce the number of irrelevant returns on your searches. Try them both and compare - but remember, spelling counts!! Click Here to search
Search Tips - these are mine, and I hope they help! You can also click on Search Tips on your FreeFind results page for some good advice. Here is that page
Advanced Search This uses the Atomz search engine, which is very good also. FreeFind also offers an advanced search from their search results pages.
Once you are on the page, there a a couple of quick ways to find the information you are looking for. I know I have a lot of long, text-heavy, information-rich pages that may be hard to find specific information on, but I've tried to make an index at the top of each long page to help you get to what you need, like at the top of this help page - check those first. An even quicker way is to use your browser's "Find" command (usually under the "Edit" menu) to go directly to a search term on that page. But if I used a different term than you, you may still not find it, so try synonyms, if that doesn't work!
About Acrobat (PDF) files If you can't download or view PDFs, you probably need to update your version of the free Acrobat Reader: Check out this page for more information. If you still have trouble, you can email me and I will try to send you the file through email, or make a more compatible version of the file for you.
About Browsers (and why you may want to update yours, and how) It will really improve your web experience if you update your browser software!
If you are all up to date, but still having trouble downloading files, go to this page for advice - download troubles
Oops - It was submitted before I was finished! Use "Tab" to move from field to field, not "Return" which will submit the form before you are done.
Will I really win an iPod? (Sorry about the advertising you may get when you complete a form - feel free to just ignore it and click on "return to AEOE website" - we are currently using free form processors, which work very nicely, and the only cost is making you look at an ad when you finish.)
Contact the Webmaster with any questions - really, feel free to just ! I'll probably answer right away. I'd much rather help you than have you be frustrated, and by asking me, you will help me make the website easier to use.
