The Association for Environmental & Outdoor Education AEOE Presents our

 

2005 Spring Conference

 

April 15-17, 2005

at Walker Creek Ranch in Marin County

 

Theme: CaliforniaÕs People and Places

 How CaliforniaÕs diverse ecosystems shape our population

and how its people shape the landscape - past, present and future.

     

 

Featuring 50+ workshops for educators, new and seasoned!

á      Overnight camping or dormitory accommodations and meals

á      Friday night salsa music and dancing with Salsa Profundo

á      Saturday keynote speaker, activities and music! - TBA

 

Workshop STRANDS include:

1.     Historical California: Its People & Their Connection to Their Environment

2.     California Today: People  & Our Connection to Our Environment

3.     California Neighborhoods & Issues of Environment

4.     Pedagogy/ the Art of Teaching

5.     Hands-on Curriculum

6.     Ecosystem Science & Natural History

7.     Leadership & Diversity

 

Suggested Workshop Topics: Any topic that clearly supports the conference theme of CaliforniaÕs People & Places or supports one of the seven workshop strands listed above. Examples might include: Central Valley Environmental Issues; Teaching Adaptations through Music; How Immigration Has Shaped California History; Interpreting California Amphibians; the Impact of Gold Mining on CaliforniaÕs Population; Astronomy Activities for Kids; Teaching to Urban Youth; People of Color in the Environmental Movement; Fire Making with Students; Science Standards at Outdoor School.

 

Presenter Discounts & Benefits: AEOE offers a $50 discount off the registration fee to the primary presenter of each workshop. If there are multiple presenters, the primary presenter gets the discount and may divide it with co-presenters on their own. DEADLINE FOR WORKSHOP PRESENTER APPLICATION:   January 20, 2005. 

Workshops decisions will be made at the deadline & announced after January 20, not on a first-come, first-served basis.
