We will be having a job fair at the AEOE Spring Conference – are you interested in attending?
We are inviting Institutional Members to bring program information, displays (small), brochures, job announcement fliers, applications, etc, to be left in the job fair area for the weekend, and to have a representative of the program present during the very brief time period allotted "after" lunch on Saturday (12:30-1:30pm - tough to fit time into the packed schedule) to meet with any interested applicants. Of course you would be welcome to staff your program table at any time during the conference, too!
Let me know if you are interested in participating, and what materials you will bring, and what you would like to have available. I may not be able to provide all equipment or space requested, but knowing what people would ideally want will help to set it up to best advantage.
Right now it looks like we'll be hosting the job fair in the Maple Room, which is a large room (29'x70') where we will also have registration, vendors, the history table, silent auctions and a tea house, so it will be a high traffic area for your program information to be seen!
I will reserve space for you on a first-come, first-served basis. When you let me know you want to participate, I will post your program information and also any jobs you are recruiting for on the Job Fair page, and that will serve as your reservation. Your table space will be taped off and labeled with your program's name, and you are encouraged to set up your display / materials on Friday when you arrive. The amount of space you are allowed will depend on total space available and number of participants, but I am thinking it will be 1/3 of a rectangular table - two sizes are available: narrow "computer" tables - 1.5' x 6' and wider "regular" tables - 3' x 6'. I will be able to arrange at least some tables with a wall behind them for larger displays/posters about your program. Let me know if you want to participate and how much space you think you'll need. I need to plan for space/table needs now so I can make sure we have enough!
Items you might consider bringing include: either formal display (such as you would have at CSTA or the BAEER fair), or at least brochures and fliers with job announcements. I am thinking if you can bring an inbox-type tray for the fliers, they will be less likely to get mixed up with others. I have a few of these I could bring, if people are interested. Having some sort of back-board that can stand alone on an easel behind the table, or on a tabletop easel, would be eye-catching. Please don't bring something huge, though, since you will be sharing the space with several others. You may also like to have a place for folks to drop resumes. We are encouraging interested members to bring resumes to the conference to give to prospective employers, so at least have a manila envelope or file folder ready! If you would like to bring a desk copy, or a few copies to hand out, of your program's journal or other materials, that is fine, but right now I am guessing space will be limited to 1/3 of a rectangular table per program (depending on how many people sign up in advance), so you may want to have a basket for these items under/behind the table for interested parties.
If you are not already an institutional member, or your membership is expiring, you may join or renew using this membership form. Besides participation in the job fair, other benefits of institutional membership include unlimited free posting on the AEOE Joblist, a listing on our California EE Providers pages, and promotion of your events through the AEOE Calendar. You also currently get membership privileges for one contact person (non-transferable). Note: the institutional membership is not a group membership, and does ~not~ include memberships for your staff, who must join separately. We hope you take advantage of this incredible value and join or renew today!
Sincerely,
Maggie Wolfe
