DISCUSS WITH YOUR PARTNER THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PUNISHMENT AND A CONSEQUENCE

 

 

PRETEND YOUR PARTNER IS YOUR NEW GROUP VISITING YOUR SCHOOL.  CLEARLY STATE YOUR EXPECTATIONS TO YOUR "GROUP".  CHANGE ROLES WITH YOUR PARTNER AND PLAY AGAIN.

 

 

WHEN IMPLEMENTING CONSEQUENCES:

á                   Be consistent                     

á                   Keep consequences short, simple, related to behavior

á                   Stand physically close to student

á                   Use direct eye contact, but donÕt intimidate

á                   Remain calm, use a soft voice

á                   Affirm what's appropriate

á                   Be firm and anger free

á                   Allow student to "save face"

á                   Don't allow excuses, bargaining, whining

 

 

 

DISCUSS WITH YOUR PARTNER WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU FEEL ANGRY WITH A STUDENT

 

 

CLASS JUST ENDED AND YOU SLUMP TO THE VALLEY OFFICE FEELING DEFEATED AND FRUSTRATED.  DISCUSS WITH YOUR PARTNER A STRATEGY TO USE TOMORROW TO REACH THESE STUDENTS MORE EFFECTIVELY.
