The Chair-elect of the section of the Association for Environmental and Outdoor Education will:
Note:
*If Chair-elect assumes the title of Chair in a year their section is hosting the annual state spring conference, they usually also take on the title of Conference Coordinator (can be delegated) and State President.
The Chair-elect is an elected position. The nomination committee shall be charged with the duty of presenting candidates for the office of Chair-elect. Chair-elect becomes the Chair the following year. All nominees must accept the nomination before being presented for office. The write-in vote of additional candidates is permissible, with the candidates consent. (Article VIII, Section H.)
It is recommended by Article VIII, section G that immediate Past Chair and two members in good standing, not on the current Section Council, make up the nominations committee.
Anyone, however, may nominate someone for chair-elect, including themselves. The Chair is ultimately responsible for recruiting their Chair-elect, and should solicit help from the council and past council members in order to make sure they have a replacement. The Council votes to elect the Chair-elect, then the state Executive Board votes to accept them onto the Executive Board.
