AEOE Southern Council Meeting

In attendance: Tom Drake, Maggie Wolfe, Laura “Leaf” Vandezande, Tara Murgatroyd, Tonya Mandl, Kris Pamintuan, Julie Tosten, Jay “Bluejay” Bishop, Bryan Snyder, Steven Murphy, Patrick McLaughlin, Frank Padilla, Jr., George Dunn, Sandy Jones, Coleen Ryan, Christine Kirk, and lurking in the background were Chris “Milly” Milford and Larry Kawano, among others!
Meeting called to order at 8:05am.
- Introductions of Council members and descriptions of what we do
- Introductions of other AEOE members in attendances
- Descriptions of positions open
- Activities Coordinator
- Frank can help with activities (locations i.e., James Reserve,
Granite Mtns.), offered to arrange a camp out in Anza Borrego in
the spring
- Sandy Jones & her husband may be interested in helping arrange canoe trip
- Webmaster
- Members at Large
- Questions and discussions about Members at Large
- Lots of interest and the following folks signed up to be Members at Large: Julie Tosten, Jay “Bluejay” Bishop, Bryan Snyder, Steven Murphy, Patrick McLaughlin, Frank Padilla, Jr., George Dunn, Sandy Jones, Coleen Ryan, Christine Kirk
- Specific interests for members at large: Blue Jay is interested
in helping in a big way for the 2008 spring conference (keynote/entertainment/tee
shirt design); Frank and Sandy interested in helping coordinate some
activities (see above); Julie interested in webmaster position! Needs
a job in California! (we should help her find a non-residential EE
job, or an assistant director if a residential program!)

- Articles for submission: activities to do with students, student observations/journal entries, photos, book reviews, etc.

- Mailed out by end of Dec./beginning of January at the latest
- Next Southern Council meeting tentatively scheduled for Sunday, February 25, 2007, Acorn Naturalists meeting room, Tustin (to be confirmed, details TBA)
